Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote

Video Description:
Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. This doesn't need to be a new console. The Wii can already do this. All it needs is some real peripheries like his glasses and mounted Wiimote and the games designed to use this sort of 3D tech. I'd be surprised if we don't see something like this for the Wii before the next generation of consoles.

you say it's only for one person. I disagree. As other people say.. it's about the gameplay. you might be able to have those two wiimotes both used on caps. the game could be like the shapes of both players has to be fitted on top of eachother. When you callibrate the two positions of that players it can work..you even can have two additional wiimotes to use as pointing/dragging/shootong devices.

"Try to drag your (for instance green) shapes on the other one's (blue) shapes. as long as you don't have a fixed space like a city or room ,you may not need the one perspective. four player games: each has a part of a puzzle, try to fit them together by moving your shape. transparant landscapes could also be a sollution. Still. this is a (must-do for Nintendo)
